Siapa sangka ternyata Theodore Permadi Rachmat atau akrab disapa Teddy Rachmat yang merupakan salah satu pengusaha sukses Indonesia ini, lahir di Majalengka. Ia lahir di Kadipaten 15 Desember 1943, dua tahun sebelum Indonesia merdeka. Sebelum menjadi entrepreneur, dia dikenal sebagai pimpinan Grup Astra. Teddy memulai karier di perusahaan itu sebagai sales, tepatnya pada 1968.
Karier pria kelahiran Kadipaten itu bisa dibilang sangat cemerlang. Dengan tangan dinginnya, Teddy berhasil menjadikan Astra sebagai perusahaan konglomerasi yang bergerak di berbagai bidang usaha. Tercatat lebih dari 200 anak perusahaan Astra Grup.Karena prestasi tersebut Teddy Rachmat mampu mencapai posisi tertinggi di perusahaan tersebut yakni sebagai presiden direktur.
Setelah ia telah berada di kursi tertinggi Astra Grup, Tahun 2004 Teddy nekat resign dari Astra yang tlah dibangunnya dari nol. Sebagai seorang entrepreneur, ia berani mengambil resiko untuk kembali merangkak dari bawah merintis Triputra Grup. Triputra Grup milik Teddy bergerak di bidang batubara, agroindustri, manufaktur, dan dealership motor. Pada 2015, majalah forbes merilis kekayaan Teddy Rachmat mencapai US$1,54 miliar atau setara Rp21 triliun. Namanya masuk dalam daftar 50 orang terkaya di Indonesia.
